1

Can my organization file an IRS 990-N if it received less than $50,000 in income, and the income includes a County Council Grant?

No. Any organization that receives a County Council Grant must disclose those funds on their tax filings. Even if your total income is under $50,000, you are required to file an IRS Form 990-EZ or Form 990. Filing a 990-N (e-Postcard) is not permitted when County Council Grant funds are part of your income.

If your organization has received grant funding in previous years and has outstanding required reports, your application review may be delayed or your eligibility jeopardized.
